What is new about myMMX db and DB VRS

The myMMX db is embarking on an exciting new phase with Sorenson taking over DB VRS in the US,. Formerly provided by Global VRS, which has since closed down, this transition is marked by the continued involvement of nWise, the technology provider behind the scenes. nWise, the company behind myMMX db and MMX, maintains responsibility for essential components such as the connection to DB VRS, the communication platform for consumers, and the operation on the myMMX db app, ensuring its seamless functionality.

In collaboration with Sorenson, nWise primary focus has been on service continuation, so that consumers can rely on the service and its customer support. Listed below are the three main priorities to make this change of service provider as smooth as possible.

  1. DB VRS – service continuation
    • In order to keep the DB VRS services active, Sorenson agreed to take on this business from Global VRS. Accordingly, Sorenson assumed control of the Global Platform and is in the process of reviewing and preparing to transfer to a new MMX instance that aligns under Sorenson’s operational parameters.
    • Sorenson is currently developing their training guide for CA’s to support DeafBlind callers. Sorenson anticipates that a small pool of CA’s to be ready in by the end of the year.
  1. Registration of new customers
    • Sorenson is working on opening up registrations as soon as possible. Due to technical set up and minimizing impact to customers, Sorenson is anticipating registering new users into Sorenson’s MMX instance and testing is currently underway to ensure connectivity.
    • Sorenson’s current website was developed as accessible and they are currently working with a service provider to audit their site and ensure DeafBlind users can access and register.
    • Consumers will soon be able to register for Sorenson VRS at https://sorenson.com/vrs/.
  1. App Upgrade for Existing myMMX db
    • To transition consumers to the Sorenson MMX instance, the myMMX db app requires an update by the end user.
    • nWise is collaborating with Sorenson to minimize the impact and to make the transfer as quick and seamless as possible.
    • The 10D numbers need to be ported and owned by Sorenson.
    • iTRS is the database containing all VRS users, including DB VRS users. It will need to be updated with correct information so that calls are redirected to new Sorenson server.
    • Consumers will be able to log in using their existing usernames and passwords.

When everything is ready for the upgrade,  information will be provided to all agencies and trainers using myMMX db. The consumers then need to update the app through App Store or via automatic updates when it becomes available. The updated version will seamlessly connect the app to Sorenson DB VRS.

As myMMX db moves forward on this transformative journey with Sorenson, nWise are not only dedicated to ensuring the seamless transition of services but also to achieving greater accessibility, support, and innovation for the myMMX db consumers. nWise are thrilled to be a part of this partnership with Sorenson, and are looking forward to the positive impact it will bring to the DeafBlind community and are eager to continue providing the best possible experience to the consumers.
