nWise Participation at TEDPA and NASRA

We recently participated in two key events concerning the Text Relay and Equipment Distribution Program – TEDPA and NASRA – where we demonstrated myMMX db and talked about the transition from TTY to RTT. Our participation is important in achieving our goal of enabling telecommunication for everyone.

The conference, organized by the Telecommunications Equipment Distribution Program Association (TEDPA), took place in Indianapolis, in July 2022. We presented myMMX db to representatives from 26 states working with the Equipment Distribution Program (EDP) for people who are Deaf, DeafBlind, and Hard of Hearing. In the past, the programs have focused on delivering TTYs, but in recent years, they have also delivered other equipment – such as smartphones, iPads, and computers – to people, to be used to communicate using other communication modalities, such as FaceTime, SMS, Video Relay, IP Relay, and IP Captions.

The focus during recent years’ events has also been on working with the transition from TTY to RTT, and the fact that one of the consequences of this is that new products and services must be developed. nWise has extensive experience in the transition from TTY to RTT, as we have been actively involved with it for over 15 years in 10 European countries. We gave a presentation about the myMMX db, and discussed the importance of including the DeafBlind community in the transition process

The TEDPA conference included a very well-thought-out concept in the program: “speed dating”. The idea was that all participants had to visit all the exhibitors’ stands for a limited time of 10 minutes per stand, and this was highly appreciated by both visitors and exhibitors.
