Early last month, we had the privilege of attending the Swedish DeafBlind organization (FSDB) annual autumn meeting in Örebro, Sweden. The event brought together almost 100 participants from across Sweden, offering us a unique opportunity to connect with members of the DeafBlind community and showcase our myMMX db video and textphone.
The feedback was great —some people were already familiar with myMMX db, while for others, it was a new discovery. It was a valuable opportunity to engage with the community and gather insights on how to further improve our product to better meet their needs.
Key Takeaways:
- The Power of Combining Text and Braille: For individuals transitioning from typed text to Braille, using both simultaneously can significantly enhance communication and accessibility. This dual approach is crucial for a smoother and more effective adaptation process.
- The Importance of Outreach: Many DeafBlind individuals still face challenges making and receiving phone calls on their own, and often rely on the aid of communication assistants. Expanding outreach efforts ensures more people are aware of the tools available to empower them, one call at a time.
- Flexibility in Equipment Matters: One size does not fit all. The ability to customize equipment combinations according to individual preferences and needs is vital for ensuring effective communication solutions for everyone.
We left the FSDB Autumn meeting feeling inspired and even more committed to supporting the DeafBlind community. It was an important experience, and it will help us shape the development of myMMX db as we continue to innovate and improve it.
